DARING ROBBERY
GANG IN NEW YORK VALUABLE GEMS STOLEN (Received November 23, 6..10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 22 A band of armed thieves assumed the management of an apartment building after tying up the elevator operator, the furnaceman and the superintendent and posing in their capacities. They carried on without arousing the suspicion of the tenants for five hours, while other members of the gang drilled through the floor of a vacant apartment and gained entrance to a jewellery store below. The thieves stole from the safe 10,000 dollars' worth of gems and escaped without trouble.
