[j!Y TKLKGRAFH —OWN COKUKBPONDENT J TAURANGA, Monday There was a largo attendance at the official opening of the rowing club's season. The president, Mr. C. Tonkin, stressed the necessity for a new boathouso. Tho Hon. H. 0. Bobbins, M.L.C., complimented the club on tho successes achieved last season. Trial fours for the president's trophies were held, and resulted as follows:—It. Tonkin (stroke), J. 11. I'lummer, F. Cassin and I'. White were beaten by C. Jlaua (stroke), I'. Sander, V. McGlone and A. Carter, by half a canvas; -Waters (stroke), M. Hartnett, D. ltiggir and A. Castaing lost to T. Harvey, J. James, ,T. Work, N. Sylvester; S. J. Smith (stroke), J. T. Plummer, S. Crabbc and G. Denniston beat C. "llaua, P. Sander, V. McGlone and A. Carter by a length. In the final, S. J. Smith (stroke), J. T. Plummer, S. Crabbe and G. Denniston beat T. Harvey, J. James, J. Work and N. Sylvester by a length.
