CHARITY CONCERT
INFIRMARY LIBRARY FUND Preceded by a programme of vocal and instrumental items, two plays were staged by members of the Milne and Clioyce Dramatic Club and the Informal Music Club in the Lewis Kad.v Hall last night to raise funds for a library at the shelters at the Auckland Infirmary. The entertainment won the appreciation of a large audience, the standard of performance being consistently high. ■ Those who contributed to the first portion of the entertainment were Mrs. Helen Kersey, Misses Margot Anderson, May Mitchell and Winifred Hill and Messrs. Leslie Russell, Wyvern de Clive Lowe, J. Dickson and John Hammond (soiigs), Miss Molly Smith (piano), and Messrs. Trevor de Clive Lowe and Leo Whittaker ('celio and piano). Miss Madge Higgins and Mr. Whittaker were the accompanists. / Gertrude Jennings' comedy "The Bride" was capably portrayed by Misses Estcllo Verran, Cynthia Lambert,.Jean Goudie, (,'ecille O'Sullivan, Barbara Nowbold and Joyce Fowler. A scene from the poignant J. M. Barrie play "The Old Lady Shows Her Medals" served as an admirable vehicle for Misses Esther Holdsworth, Melba Whittaker, Barbara Griffith and Hilda Chatwin, as the old charwomen, and Messrs. John Greer and Norma Reynolds, as the soldier friends. The productions were directed by Mr. John Hammond, and incidental piano accompaniments wero provided by Mr. McDonald.
