WOMAN ASSAULTED

MAN SENT TO PRISON A charge of assault was admitted by Henry Whiteside, aged 18, bootmaker, who appeared in the Police Court on Saturday morning before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M. Police evidence was given that accused had been drinking 011 Friday and had assaulted in a city street a woman with whom he had been associating, striking her on the face. The magistrate imposed a sentence of one month's imprisonment, stating that accused, who had been convicted previously, apparently did not appreciate leniency.
