Saturday , The annual meeting of the Kaitaia Astronomical Society was held on Thursday, when the following officers were elected: President, Mr. C. B. Miehie; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. Foster and D. Buckle; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Wattridge. - In view of his coming visit to Canton Island, in the Pacifio Ocean, as leader of an expedition from New Zealand to observe the eclipse of the sun, Mr. Michia was presented by the society with a case to hold hiß 78in. camera, which he is taking to the islaud for the purpose of photographing the eclipse.
