AUSTRALIANS' TOUR MATCHES FOR 1938 CONDITIONS ARRANGED 1 By Telegraph—Fress Association —Copyright (Received November 18, 6.12 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 17 The duration of the cricket test matches between England and Australia in 1938 has been fixed at four days by the board of - control, sub ject to the approval of the Australian board, with the proviso that the last match shall be played to a finish if neither side wins two matches, or if the results are even. The grounds will be: Nottingham, Lord's, Manchester and the Leeds Oval, in that order. The advisory committee of the county clubs has recommended to the Marylebone Club adoption of the experimental leg-before-wicket rule, under which county matches have been played for two seasons, as a law of cricket. Subject to New Zealand's approval the board has arranged for three test matches in 1937 to be played under general conditions current in the allIndia test matches last • season. The profit cu the latter was £4665.
FORMER CAPTAIN GILLIGAN IN AUSTRALIA VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND FREMANTLE. Nov. 18 Mr. A. E. R. Gilligan, who was captain of the 1924-25 English cricket team which lost four of the five test matches in Australia, arrived at Fremantle to-day by the Strathaird from England. He intends to see three of this summer's test matches between England and Australia before visiting his brother, Mr. Frank Gilligan, who is the new headmaster of Wauganui Collegiate School, New Zealand. *
