INSTITUTE AFFAIRS

Glen Eden.—At a meeting of the institute a demonstration of mocassinmaking was given by Mrs. BoHand. Competitions were won by Miss Brassington, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Kirkbride, Mrs. R. Bolland, and Mrs. Hue. The hostesses were Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Clark. Kaihere.—The monthly meeting was held recently. Mrs. A. G. Davis presided. An interesting report of tlio Dunedin conference was read by the delegate, Mrs. Benny. A competition for the best plate of scones was won by Mrs. Stecnson. Plans were mado for holding a picnic this month. Brisk business was done at the sales table, which was in charge of Mrs. Steonson. Hostesses were Mrs. Matchctt and Mrs. Stecnson. Naike. —Arrangements were discussed in connection with a hard-up ball to be held to raise funds for the children's Christmas treat. A demonstration of hairpin work was given by Mrs. Harris. A good collection of toys was received for the leper station.
