LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Parnell. —The branch met at the Blind Institute recently, when members were welcomed by the matron. The Rev. Mr. Cliitty explained the method of reading and writing in Braille. After visits to the schoolrooms, where the children were engaged in their different activities, the members were taken through the buildings and housing accommodation. Organ recitals by Mr. Cliitty and pupils of the school, and songs by Miss Eunice Hawkings, were appreciated. A letter, which arrived by air mail from the president, was read. Afternoon tea was served by the matron and staff. Waimauku. —As the November meeting this year fell on Armistice Day, which is also St. Martin's Day, the Patronal Festival and anniversary of the Waimauku Memorial Church, the members of the League of Mothers attended a special church service conducted by the Rev. F. Parsons. Tn his address on "Peace," the speaker stressed the need for fostering love and concord in the individual community and Oie allowance of 110 colour, class or racial barriers. In this way, he added, much could be done toward bringing about world peace. After the service the members assembled in the hall, where Mrs. T. Charter welcomed visitors and busbands, who had been specially invited. Mr. Blake thanked the mothers for their hospitality and Mr. Watts spoke of th? influence of mothers in the interests of peace. Songs by Mrs. Blake and an elocutionary item bv Mrs. Jackson were much appreciated. A letter of Christmas greetings from Mrs. S. 0. Knglish was read. Afternoon tea was served by the committee.
