AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION DATES FOR TOURNAMENTS DAVIS CUP ENTRY WANTED Delegates to tho Aiifklnnd Lawn Tennis Association met last night, when the chairman, Mr. H. Clay, reported that all the tournament dates applied for had been approved of hy the governing body. On the chairman's suggestion Mr. Spooner was added to the Auckland championship conmiittoe. If was decided to accept affiliation of the Factory Trunin Association and assist as far as possible the playing of Saturday morning matches. March I'J and )!) were suggested as alternative dates fnr the match with the Waikato .Association, December i'J for a match with Thames Valley sub-Association, and February or '-'7 with the Hay of Plenty Sub-asso-ciation. It was resolved to instruct the association's delegates on the .N'evv Zealand Association to support Mr. I'oden's motion that the national championships should be held in Auckland in lo:js, Christchurch in lUitf), Wellington in HMO, and in Auckland again in J!MI. Tlie chairman reported that there was very little prospect of a visit from overseas players, and ii did not seem likely that any would be taking part in the .New Zealand championships. The meeting agreed to instruct the association's delegates to support the issue of a '.'hallenge from New Zealand for the Davis Cup, unless good reasons were brought forward to the contrary. The principle of the restriction of entries at the national championships was approved of. The chairman notified delegates that this year it is necessary for all competitors (other than juniors) to be nominated by their associations. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association will refund one-half of the firstclass return rail and steamer fares of New Zealand ranked players (not including sleeping car or deck cabin accommodation or meals). Applications for such refunds must be made through association secretaries. In the case of juniors the controlling body will refund one-half of the rail and steamer fares for a limited number of promising juniors under 18 years, to be approved by the New Zealand committee. An endeavour will be made to billet juniors if desired. Applications from associations are to reach the New Zealand secretary uot later than December 'M. FACTORY ASSOCIATION

A decision to call the association's events the Griffiths' Cup competitions was decided upon at a further meeting of the delegates to the Factory Lawn Tennis Association. It was reported that many factories had entered teams and a successful season was anticipated. Matches would be commenced on December 5 and all factories were invited to enter. The delegates, Miss Harris (Collins Brothers) and Miss Farrcll (Domo Brace), were elected to the committee, while .Mr. J. J. Pilkington was elected joint secretary and treasurer. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr. (iriffiths for his generous help to the association. II ill (Ngaruawahia), J. Cunningham (Kahui), I. Kosoof (Huntly). Emergencies: Miss V. Kosoof and Robinson (Pukemiro).
