MOTOR HEADLIGHTS
(THE REMOVAL OF GLARE Suggestions for removing the dangerous glare from motor-car headlights were contained in a report adopted by the New* Zealand Road Safety Council. The report dealt in detail with the draft regulations concerning headlights and suggested amendments to provide for the specific direction of the beam of the lights to avoid dangerous glare. The suggestions were that the beam should ho set to strike the roadway and not the eyes of an oncoming driver, and that the left-hand beam should he straight ahead and the right-hand beam turned slightly away from oncoming traffic so that the two beams would 'meet at a distance far enough ahead of the car to give good visibility. The Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. W. Laurenson, who presented the report, said that the alterations suggested could be done in any garage.
