AMATEUR WRESTLING
CONTROL AND AFFILIATION The control of amateur wrestling in New Zealand has been a rather thorny question for somo time, but it was made clear at the last meeting of the council of tho New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games' Association that so far as that body is concerned tho Dominion Wrestling Union has proved its right to be regarded as the authority in which control of the amateur side of the sport should be vested. This expression of opinion was made as the result of an application by the Dominion Wrestling Union for affiliation to the Olympic Council. 'f'he question of affiliation now hinges upon the receipt of advice from the world (iontrolling body, tho International Amateur Wrestling Federation, as to the standing of the Dominion Union. But it seems fairly certain that the federation will acknowledge the union as the controlling body iu New Zealand, and grant absolute affiliation to the Olympic and Umpire Games' Association. Affiliation, of course, is necessary before any consideration could be given the 'matter of representation at the Umpire Games in Sydney in 1033.
