• , Maurice Strickland, heavy-weight champion of New Zealand, in his first boxing contest in the United States, outpointed Max Marek, of Chicago, in that centre. Strickland left New Zealand under the management of Bill Crawford. In England, he knocked out Ben Foord, the present holder of the British Empire title, lost to the exworld's champion, Tommy Loughran, and, after touring the provinces, Crawford sold Strickland's contract to Daly, an American manager, who is handling Strickland on his present American campaign.
