ENGLISH INN HOSTESS
MISS ISHBEL MacDONALD GREAT SUCCESS OF VENTURE [from a special correspondent] LONDON, Oct. <JS Miss Ishbcl Mac Donald, daughter of the ex-Prime Minister, Mr. J. Ramsay Mac Donald, but better known as mine hostess of Ye Plow Inn, at Spccn, near High Wycombe, has proved herself a first-class business woman. Such is the success of her venture, which she undertook in .January of this year, that she no longer has to attend personally except at week-ends. During the summer hundreds of visitors have had/to bo turned away from the little hotel, which once catered for only a handful of villagers.
A car park has now been made, bedrooms added, a lounge aud a new dining room, but still accommodation is insufficient for the many who want to see the daughter of such a celebrity serving half-pints or attending to tho needs of her diners. In the last three months visitors from Australia. New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Switzerland, Paris, New York, Denmark, and Holland have paid visits to Ye P|ow and signed the visitors' book as well as hundreds from all parts of the British Isles. And originally the rent of this old inn was only 4s 6d a week. Yo Plow —an old plough has been placed outside—has a long history and, in spite of the extensions, its character has been retained. Visitors pour in just for a look rounrl and a cup of tea. Photographs at 2d each are on sale, also wooden egg cups and toast racks made locally. They sell liko hot cakes at 9d and Us 6d.
