CARETAKER'S DISCOVERY
WOMAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS DEATH OCCURS IN HOSPITAL [nv TFJJ'X;HAI'H —own correspondent] WIIANG A RET, Tuesday When the old library room in tho Whangarei Borough Council chambers was opened just before mid-day to-day by the caretaker, Mr. J. M. Johnson, he was surprised to find Mrs. Alice Hill, aged 60, the wife of Mr. Charles Arthur Stanley Hill, a second-hand dealer, of First Avenue, sitting in a chair in an unconscious condition. Tho St. John Ambulanco was immediately called and Mrs. Hill was taken to tho Whangarei Hospital, where she died shortly after admission.
An inquest was opened this afternoon by the district coroner, Mr. G. H. Morrish, when Mr. Hill said his wife had not been sleeping well lately. He identified a note as having been written by his wife. Tho inquest was adjourned.
Deceased, who was born in London, enmo to New Zealand with her husband about 1920. She was a prominent member of the Whangarei Presbyterian Church choir. Sho is survived by her husband and one son.
