WORKERS ON FARMS
EFFECT OF NEW LAWS MINISTER WELL PLEASED [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WELLINGTON, Monday Appreciation of the manner in which dairy farmers generally received tho new legislation affecting wages and the conditions of workers on farms was expressed by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, today. The majority had accepted the provisions of the law in the right spirit, and had made no complaint at all. There was still some difference of opinion, however, in respect to holidays for dairy -farm workers, the Minister added. Provision was made, of course, for granting holidays at the time most convenient to employers, either by giving a day off now and again, or by allowing tho requisite number of holidays at one period. It was largely a question of arrangement. Several farmers had suggested that the time between milkings should be considered in the computation of holidays, but it would not be reasonable to agree to that argument.
