SINGING SCHOLARSHIP
AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY Various recommendations regarding the establishment of an annual singing scholarship, provided for under the will of the late Mr. Walter J. Kirby, were made in a, report by Professor H. Hollinrake, professor of music, received at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland University College Council. Among various recommendations was the appointment of Dr. S. K. Phillips as lecturer in singing and voice production. The value of the scholarship was fixed at 35 guineas a year, including free tuition in the School of Music. It was recommended that it should bo awarded annually, and bo open to persons of either sex between the ages of 17 and oo
Tho recommendations were referred to the executive committee of the Professorial Board.
