DAMAGE TO CHIMNEY
SHORTENING AVERTS DANGER ROTORUA HOSPITAL STACK [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday Signs that the ulft. steel chimney at the Rotorua Hospital was in grave danger of collapsing were recently discovered, and stops were immediately taken to remove the danger by taking away 25ft. of the top. It. was found that of 2!) rivQts at a point halfway up the stack, 21 had sheared. It has been decided to replace the chimney, as in its shortened condition it is not satisfactory. The Health Department will be asked to defray the cost.
