INDUSTRIES BILL
MANUFACTURERS' PROTEST MORE CONSIDERATION URGED [HV TELEGRAPH—I'HESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Thursday While expressing approval of tiie general principle as set out in the title of the Industrial Eiriciency Bill at present before tho House of Representatives, members of the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association were unanimous iu protesting against various aspects of the bill and the manner in which such a vital piece of legislation was being rushed through Parliament. The executive committee submitted a number of resolutions which were sent to tho Now Zealand Manufacturers' Federation. Tho resolutions express the view that the principle of bureaucratic control is not adequately removed from tho bill by tho amendments made, and ask that the Government should bo requested to defer consideration of tho measure until next session so that it may be further discussed. In any event, the association is not prepared to approve of the bill without a definite nssurancQ that a provision will be included that no industrial plan or amendment to any such plan shall be operative unless and until it is endorsed by manufacturers representing two-thirds of tho output of the industry concerned.
