BASKETBALL DANCE

THE CARNIVAL QUEENS A successful dance was held last night by the Auckland Basketball Association in the Oddfellows' Hall, which was decorated for the occasion with red and orange streamers. The championship cups won during the season were presented by Miss J. Neill, president of the association, who wore a gown of cobweb self-striped net. Badges were also presented to the winners of each grade in the knock-out tournament. The three carnival queen candidates were Miss Joan Horspool, Senior Section queen, who wore white marocain and satin, with scarlet colours; Miss Hazel Switzer, Intermediate, white liailstone muslin, with blue colours; and Miss Millio Allan, Junior, white satin with gold colours. After the result of the carnival had been announced, Miss Neill draped the winning queen, Miss Joan Horspool, with a blue riband, which bore the letters, " A.B.A. 1936." The ladies on the committee who were present were Miss Neill, Miss C. Melville, the vice-president, who was in black xnetallnsse; Miss G. Miles, secretary, in black gold-threaded net; Miss N.
