APPEAL FROM ENGLAND
ADVICE ON PROCEDURE TOWN COUNCIL'S DIFFICULTY A copy of the standing orders of the Christehurch City Council and any other useful ndvico is sought in a letter from Mr. It. T. Smith, of the Southend Town Council, England, received by the town clerk of Christchurch, Mr. J. S. Neville. Mr. Smith, who visited Christehurch some months ago, states that his council finds that reorganisation on modern lines is essential. It has a tendency unduly to debate small matters. In response to tho appeal information on the way in which the Christchuich City Council conducts its business has been despatched. Enclosed with Mr. Smith's letter were copies of newspaper articles ho wrote describing his visit to New Zealand. in one particular he goes astray, when he describes Auckland as the "capital and seat of Government of New Zealand."
