PROGRESS OF LODGES INSTALLATION CEREMONIES ANNUAL MEETINGS HELD The Loyal Takapuna Lodge, M.TJ., 1.0.0. K., held a very successful social and dance in the Parish Hall, the N.G., Sister liade, and Bro. Fade, D.G.M., being the hosts for the even- j ing. About 150 members and friends j attended, representatives being present from most of the sister lodges in the district. The lodge orchestra provided music for dancing, while items were given by the Diggle Family and Sister Karquhar. Bro. Stebbing took charge of a novelty Monte Carlo, and Bro. j Graham a statue dance. Bro. W. i Veitch made an efficient M.C. Supper ! was served. The youthful Enterprise Lodge, 1.0. G.T., met last week. A good attendance was presided over by the C.T., Sister D. Grant. One new member was initiated and welcomed. After the business session the junior members of a girls' gymnasium club were received and an enjoyable programme was given. Sister Mrs. Fraser acted as accompanist and Misses Cunningham and V. Downie were in charge of the (jcrformers. The lodge members showed keen appreciation of the items. The Roskill Lodge, 1T.A.0.1)., met on October 1 in the Carmen Avenue hall. Bro. Kerr, arch druid, presided over a fair attendance of members and - visitors, including P.I).P. Bro. A. Mackay, Star of Newmarket, and Bro. Wells, sen., Light of Manukau. One new member received his initiation into the mystic rites of Druidism, the ceremony being carried out in the impressive and able manner for which this lodge is noted. Another member, Bro. Lewis, was received on transfer from Taumarunui and welcomed. The officers were warmly congratulated iiljon their splendid performance in lifting the Glass Silver Roosters from the Light of Manukau Lodge, the previous evening, in a ritual competition. This is the first time these emblems have been won by Roskill, which now holds several trophies. The Roskill members arranged to pay an official visit to Waitemata Lodge on October 22. The evening closed with refreshments and bowls.

There was a large attendance at tho last meeting of Mrytle Rebekah Lodge', No. 4, 1.0.0. F., the liohle grand, Sister E. Laing, presiding. A visit was received from Bro. McCarthy, D.D.G.M., Waitemata district. Routine business was dealt with, and the result of the district ritual competition was announced. Amid great enthusiasm it was stated that Myrtle had won the trophy, also the noble grand and junior past grand's jewels. The officers concerned had also tied for the R.S.N.G., L.S.N.G., and L.S.V.G. jewels. Five new members were intiated and welcomed into the Order. The election of officers for tho new term followed, Sister L. Dare being chosen as X.G.; Sister L. Battershill, V.G.; Sister W. Culpitt, financial secretary; Sister A. Gunn, receiving secretary; and Sister J. Hoffman treasurer. Fraternal greetings and congratulations were conveyed by Sister Watt, N.G., Clematis Rebekah, Laurel Rebekah, and Bro. McCarthy, D.D.G.M.

The usual meeting of Gordon Tent, LO.R., was held, the chief ruler, Bro. Trevor Ashe, presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors, including about 40 members of the Bud of Promise Juvenile Tent, 1.0. R., who were present by invitation. The business of the senior tent was postponed, with the exception of essential matters. A letter was read from the Loyal Mouldun Lodge, N.1.0.0.F., congratulating the Bud of Promise upon its success in winning the ■'Moulden" Bowling Shield in competition with juvenile lodges of all Orders, also upon the sporting spirit it had shown throughout the games. The chief ruler, Bro. Ashe, also congratulated the boys upon their splendid victory.

The Kaitaia Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., held its annual ball last week. A very large crowd attended and the function proved a great success. Music for the dancing was provided bv the skilful Ritz Orchestra, extras being played by Mrs. Joan, Mrs. sen, Miss Crene, Messrs. Davidson and Yates. Bro. H. R. Yates carried out the,duties of M.C. very capably. Two Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss Blythe and Mr. R. Werner and Miss Cook and Mr. F. Donaldson. The ladies' committee served supper.

The To Aroha Druids' Lodge tendered a social evening to the local Oddfellows and Foresters' Lodge, visitors nlso being present from Matamata and Piako Druids' Lodges. A large crowd attended and spent a happy time. Sister Glover (piano), Bro. McQuarters (steel guitar) and Mr Blandford (mandolin) played dance music, and extras were given by Sister Bowie, Bros. Cottrell, Dargan and McQuarters. A number of well-received items were contributed by Kathleen Baker (tap dancing), Mr. Edgar and Bro. Lewis (songs), Bro. McQuarters and Mr. Blandford (instrumental duet), and Bro. and Sister Leonard. Sister Death, Bro. Jackson (humorous* dialogues). Supper was served by the Druids.

The Enterprise Lodge, T.0.G.T., held another open night Inst week, when a visit was received from the senior members of a girls' gymnasium club, hi the absence of the instructress, Mrs. Hunter, through a family bereavement, the girls were in the charge of Miss Cunningham and Miss Downie. The latter gave a very good exhibition of dancing. The gymnasium girls gave an excellent programme, which was well received. Items were also given by the Spence sisters and Sister Shirley Yates. One or two games were enjoyed, and the serving of supper brought a happy evening to a close. Sister Kraser was accompanist for the evening. The lodge, deputy thanked the visitors for their very enjoyable performance.

The Westmere Lodge, No. 144, 1.0.0. F., had a large attendance at its last meeting, over which Bro. T. Skinner, N.G., presided. The chief business of the evening was the installation of officers for the new term, this ceremony being ably and impressively carried out by a team of officers, who' included Bro. A. J. Guy, grand master for New Zealand, assisted by P.G.M. Hro. Gray, P.G.M. Bro. M. lfooper, grand marshal Bro. C. Johnson. D.D.G.M. Bro. J. Arnott, P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Newbold, P.D.D. G.M., Bro. McCarthy, and G.L.R. Bro. Dennis. The incoming noble grand, Bro. G. Hitchcock, has a capable suite of officers to assist him and some good times are anticipated. Bro. Guy, G.M., presented past grand collars to Bros. Neale, Grainger and Watts in recognition of their, services while passing through the chairs of the lodge. After greetings had been exchanged the evening concluded with refreshments and bowls

Court Pride of Kaukapakapa, A.0.F., hold its 11th annual hall last week, the local hall being gaily decorated for the Occasion. Dancers came from various parts of the district, and the large crowd, which included representatives from most of the sister courts and kindred societies, had an enjoyable night. The court is noted for its hospitality, and the supper arrangements were excellent.
