BOXING
TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR SCHOOL ANNUAL TOURNAMENT HELD The annual boxing tournament of the Takapuna Grammar School was held at the Gaiety Theatre, Takapuna, last evening. The'hall was filled to capacity and close on 30 semi-finals and finals were decided during the evening. Demonstration bouts were given by Auckland amateurs, R. L. Corniack and D. Johnson, W. Purdy and Petty-Officer Heath, and R. Gurr and R. Branch. The boys' weights ranged from ost (mosquito class) to the heavy-weight, lOst 101b class, and the boxing was of a higher standard than in previous years. J. R. McGrano was awarded the medal presented by Mr. A. Jensen for the best loser, and the medal for the most scientific boxer was awarded to P. Wright The officials were:—Referee, Mr. N. McLean; announcer, Mr. A. G. Coulam; timekeepers, Messrs. A. W. Short, V. C. Butler. Tho programme was arranged by Mr. Harvey Thompson. Following wore the results: — Mosquito-weight.—J. M.
