PROGRESS IN WAIKATO ACTIVITIES OF SOCIETY [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday Continued progress throughout the year was reported at the annual meeting of the Waikato Society of Arts. The society had been admitted to the Association of New Zealand Art Societies in October, 1935, which enabled it to receive the benefits of the rota system of circuit pictures. The late autumn was fixed by the association as most suitable for the rota exhibition and the Waikato was made the receiving centre for the start of this year's circnit.
The balance-sheet showed a small deficit on the year's working, the loss being due to the extra expense of holding two exhibitions. However, the society was in a sound financial position and had a good credit balance. The following officers were elected:— Patron. Sir George Wilson; president, Mr. J. Treloar; executive council, Mrs. D. Seymour, Miss I. Carey,' Messrs. J. S. Hill, G. Coombes. H. Edgecumbe, F. Morrison and I. W. Richdale; secretaries. Miss L. B. Bastian and Mrs. Vickerv; honorary solicitor, Mr. E. V. Stace; honorary auditor, Mr. D. E. Malins.
