HOCKEY SEASON
CLOSING ON SATURDAY DEVONPORT SHIELD WINNERS The concluding games in tho Auckland Association's Dovonport Shield competition, decided at Romuera on Saturday, were disappointing. Play for the most part was scrappy and a number of tho matches verged on the farcical. University did not play up to expectations, and St. Luke's secured two easy victories, thus finishing with 12 points, equal with Grammar Old Boys. It was agreed at a meeting of the executive of the association on Monday night to bracket tho two sides and lot them jointly hold the trophy. St. Luke's and Grammar, however, will meet again on Saturday in the match for the Kent Cup, tho trophy awarded to the champion of champions. The game for the Selector's Cup between the Auckland representatives and a team representing "the Rest" also will be played on Saturday. All the matches are to be decided at Remuera, and these will close the season.
