INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
PROPOSAL AT THAMES [itr TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES, Tuesday The question of the establishment of an intermediate school at Thames was discussed at a conference of headmasters and school committees of Thames last evening. The Hon. A. Burns. M.L.C., and Mr. D. V. Dunlop, secretary of the Auckland Education Hoard, were present. The conference decided to meet the high school board of governors to discuss the position further. Mr. J. W. Danb.v, chairman of the high school board, said that the time had arrived when they were faced with I the question of remodelling the system in Thames district. Mr. Burns pointed out the advantage of an intermediate school at Thames and urged the public to ask for such a school in the interests of the district. Mr. W. H. Hoult, principal of the high school, favoured the proposal and spoke of the need for the. determining of the adaptability of children from the age of 11 onward. Mr. Danby said there would be no i loss of time in presenting the case to the high school board.
