Ftilljames tliat the Mount Roskill Road Board should introduce a five-day working week for fill employees, except those under industrial awards at present under dispute, was defeated at a meeting of the board last night by six tfotes to two. Members opposed the motion on the ground of inconvenience to the ratepayers, which would arise if the office were closed on Saturday morning. All employees were entitled to equal treatment. it was stated, and outside emplovees would have to be considered as well as the office staff.
