95TH BIRTHDAY
RESIDENT OF AUCKLAND A spirit of good fellowship prevailed at Castlebar Private Hotel on Monday, when Air. George Gee was warmly congratulated on attaining his 95th birthday. Airs. Helen Griffiths, oil behalf of the guests, made Air. Gee a presentation, to which he suitably replied. Airs. Charles Batkin, also, on behalf of the guests, presented gifts to Aliss Florence Gee. Air. Gee, who retains his faculties to a marvellous degree, first landed in New Zealand in 1851, and retired from active life 35 years ago. He has living a family of two sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren and ten great-grand-children.
The Freedom of London was conferred on Air. Gee's father in 1841 and, as Air. Gee was the first son born after that, the Freedom of tho City descended to him, on the death of his father. Air. Gee was the recipient of letters and telegrams from all parts of tho world.
