FAMOUS LONDON THEATRE SITE DESIGNED FOR CINEMA (Received October 4, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Oct. 3 The newspapers report the conclusion of negotiations as a result of which the Alhambra Theatre in Leicester Square, London —an old-time music hall and later a home of the ballet and of variety entertainments —is to be pulled down. A cinema is to be erected oil the site. The Alhambra was iirst opened on March 16, 1854, as an exhibition hall. It became a music hall on February 7, 1858;' and a theatre on April 24, 1871. After being remodelled it was reopened as a theatre in 1883, after which it became famous for lavish productions of ballets.
