HIGHER VALUES RULING GOOD PRICES FOR HACKS The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, hold its Oliaupo spring horse fair on Wednesday and Thursday. In spite of the general acute scarcity of horses in the Waikato, considerably more came forward than were advertised. The first day there were entered approximately 80 unbroken horses of all classes, and SO draught horses, while on Thursday about 80 draught horses and 30 hacks were brought forward. Values for (he unbroken animals were fav- | ourablc from the vendor's viewpoint in com- i parison with recent Waikato prices. Although ' a few were reserved, the bulk changed hands. | On tmth days there was a consistently strong i inquiry for draughts. Particularly in the caso j of medium to heavy farm horses, prices eclipsed those quoted recently iu many cases j to a marked extent. DEMAND FOR BULLS The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports having held its Te Awamutu annual grade bull sale on Friday. There was an entry of approximately 100 bulls, most of which were yearling and two-year Jerseys, the balance being young Shorthorn grade bulls. The majority were medium to plain-conditioned. Local buyers were present in large numbers and spirited competition prevailed. Attractive young bulls were the most keenly sought, but all sold readily and prices compared favourably with those at recent sales. Messrs. S. J. and AV. V. Walker were paid the top price of £22 for a two-year grade Jersey, the buyer being the Pollard Estate. Mr. J. R. Flay obtained up to £l2 for medium yearling Shorthorn bulls. Best quality two- j year grade Jersey bulls made £l7 10s to £23; good sorts, two-year grade Jerseys, £ls to £l7 10s; medium bred, £ll to £l4: inferior, up to £10; choice yearling Jersey bulls, £7 10s to £10; medium quality yearlings, £5 to £7; inferior sorts, to £4 15s; average conditioned well-bred yearling Shorthorn bulls, £lO to £l2; medium, £7 10s to £10; inferior, up to £6. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held its annual bull sale at Te Awamutu on Friday, when a good yarding of 'all classes of bulls was offered before a large attendance of buyers. Competition was firm for bulls in good condition and showing quality, while poorer conditioned and aged bulls, although not so keenly sought, sold on a par with late quotations. DAIRY FACTORY OUTPUT NORTHERN WAIROA COMPANY [li\* TELEGRAPH —OWN* CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE, Saturday The make of the Northern Wniroa Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, for the season to the end of August is 20'? tons 12cwt., compared with 207 tons 14cwt. for the same period last year. For the period £19.253 6s 7(1 has been distributed by the company, against £15.501 4s 10d last year. During August, 233,7871b. of fat were received, for which £ll 565 'ls lid was advanced, the corresponding figures for the same month last year being 250,9101b. fat, for which £0673 is 3d was distributed. The company has also distributed £20,758 lis 4d. representing a final payment for the season 1935-36 of -Jd per lb. of fat. This brings the company's payment for that season to 12.348-Id", one'of the highest payments in the north.
