GOLD MINE DISPUTE DREDGE WORKERS' CLAIMS MEN TO RESUME TO-DAY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GREYMOUTH, Sunday A representative meeting of the Dredge nnd Goldmine "Workers' Union here to-da.v derided that the workers at the Golden Sands claim shall resume work to-morrow under the present conditions and that an endeavour should be made to have the terms of the agreement which was reached at the Conciliation Council here recently referred hack from the Court to the Conciliation Council. Demanding an increase in wages, employees of the Golden Sands Mining Company at Barry town delivered an ultimatum to the management. Tho ultimatum was originally ,to expire a week ago, but overtures were made to the men and they conceded tho management until Thursday. Their demands were not mot; and they ceased work at midnight. Under the recent alluvial mino and dredge workers' award tho wages of the Golden Sands employees wore fixed at 16s a day, but the men claim that they aro entitled to tho minimum wage paid to dredgo employees, considering tho fart that they aro required to provide oilskins and guinlioots for themselves, which the averago dredge worker is not required to do. The employees ask for 17s a day for day men, 18s a day for the six-shift men and 19s a day for the cloth-washer, who works a broken shift of eight hours —from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. and from .'5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tho company considers tho agreement reached in a conciliation council is a liberal one. By it tho men's wages wore increased from 14s to 16s a day, and all workers woro granted eight days' holiday on full pay, 111 addition to other concessions.
