CROWDS AT CYCLE RACE [fhom oim own coniti:sroNi)KN'r] I'APAK URA, Sunday A serious traffic jam occurred last Saturday afternoon at the finishing line of the 100-mile road cycle race, near the southern boundary of Papakura. A crowd which numbered nearly 1000, in addition to numerous motor-cars, buses and vans, gathered on the South Koad and caused serious blocks in the 'main road traffic. The officials did their best under very trying conditions, but could not. efficiently control the assembled crowd. Motor traffic was held up at intervals, and there was some danger of accidents, as cars threaded their way through the onlookers. The competing cyclists were hampered to some extent on approaching the finishing lino.
