PERSONS LEAVING DOMINION [HV TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Friday Questions asked by Mr. C. IT. Burnett (Government —Tauranga) regarding the issue of steamer tickets and passports to persons leaving New Zealand were answered by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in the House of Representatives this ' week. Mr. Burnett asked if the passport contained any undertaking that the person had complied with taxation laws, particularly unemployment taxation, and, if not, would the Minister make provision that before a ticket or passport was issued the person should produce a certificate that liis taxation obligations had been complied with. The Minister replied that passages could be obtained from shipping companies without inquiry regarding taxation liabilities. Passports were not issued until evidence of having fulfilled obligations in regard to the unemployment levy was supplied. There were difficulties in tho way of inaugurating a system under which a taxation clearance must bo obtained before leaving New Zealand, hut tho matter was receiving consideration.
