SLIM ON THE MAT

DANCER'S SIX EXERCISES Six simple exercises for slimming "on the mat" are given by Eileen O'Connor, the young dancer in that recent English revue, "Follow the Sun." I—Lie flat, on your back on a mat, arms clown at sides, knees stiff, toes pointed—kick 8 times right leg, 8 times left leg. (For reducing hips and legs.) 2 —Kick to the right; then to the left —alternating legs quickly 8 times. 3 —Bring up both locs together—B times. 4 —Keeping legs on floor, arms over head, bring body up and forward, touching toes every time. If that proves easy after a while, try doing it with arms clasped behind your head. (For shoulders, waist and hips.) s—Bring up legs together, take them right over your head, and try to touch floor just beyond your head with your toes. Jn doing this lift hips right off floor. Return to flat position. Repeat 8 times. Very good for waist and hips. 6 (a) —Lie on right side, right arm under head, legs together, kick left leg upward, as high as possible, 8 times. (b) —Kick again, bending knee extremely so that your aim is to touch left shoulder with left heel —S times. Repeat with right log, lying on left side. Excellent for hip and thigh reduction.
