ASSAULT CHARGE
JOCKEY IN OOURT ALLEGATIONS BY POLICE ' "This was really an i.ll-in fight in a focalled club," said De;ective-Sergoant 3ldSugh, when Keith Vivian Gill, jockey, aged 21, was :harged in the Police Court yesterday with assaulting Albert William Douglas. One man, who was charged with being; intoxicated in charge of a motor-car, was in hospital, and another was in bee. and unable to spipear, said Mr. McHugh, who added that beer bottles were used. Mr. McHugh asked for a remand until next Friday, but asked- that if tail were granted it should be substantial as accused had no ties. "How long have you been in Auckland?" asked the magistrate, Mr. F. E.. Hunt. "I hava just returned from India after being away for some time," eaid accused. "Icame back tc get a licence." ilr. Schramm, who was sitting in the Court, said he knew accused, although he was not appearing ::or him. Accused was ordered to deposit £ls and to report daily to the police. "He is making a goccl start to get a new licence," remarked the magistrate to Mr. Schramm. : "Yes; it will be endorsed before it is iaued," said Mr. Schramm.
