RUGBY FOOTBALL

JUBILEE TROPHY FINAL PONSONBY TO PLAY MARIST KEEN CONTEST ANTICIPATED The final match in the Auckland Rugby Union's .Jubilee Trophy competition will be played to-morrow afternoon at Eden Park, and it is possible that this contest may conclude the 10;36 season. The teams taking part will be Ponsonby and Marist. The position is that Ponsonby has already won the Gallaher Shield, having been the successful team in the first round of the senior competition. Under the union's rules the team winning the Gallaher Shield is to play off with the Jubilee Trophy winner to decide the winner of the grand championship. Providing Ponsonby wins to-morrow afternoon, therefore, it. will have won both competitions and consequently will bo declared the grand champion fifteen. On the other hand, if Marist prevails to-morrow, it will have won the Juhilec Trophy and a plaff-off between it and Ponsonby will be necessary to ascertain the premier team for 103(5. Both Ponsonby and Marist scored good wins last Saturday over Otahulni and Grafton respectively, and, as each has retained its form remarkably well throughout tho year, a very keen contest, seems assured. Marist is anxious to prove its superiority over Ponsonby and thereby earn the right to a further match. On paper there does not appear to be a great deal between tho teams ami it may be a question of which sido has the better luck. The teams will bo as follows: Ponsonby.—Hook, Ramsay, Hay, Moses, T). Solomon, Jamieson, Frankham, Evans, Bond, Johnson, Knight, Potter, Carson. Eraser, F. Solomon. Marist.—Elliot, Hardy, Logan. Bell-Booth, Cooney, Curtayne, Irvine, Fitzpatrick, Hadley, McHugh, Butler, Bailey, Ait ken, McGrory, Toye. THE CURTAIN-RAISER The curtain-raiser will be between the Suburbs and Manukau senior B teams. They met in the final last Saturday, when a scoreless draw was played, and so another match is necessary to find the winner of this competition. Following are tho teams:— Manukau. —Elliott, Way, Heighway, Williams, Funnell, Whittle, Muir, Hatfield, Langley, Fogden, Gribble, Harlcy, Whiting, Aldiss, Langton. Dean, Brumby, Sayers, Godfrey, Halford, McColl, Lynch. COMBINED TEAM The team to represent the combined Rugby Club's officials against the Referees at GribbleHirst Park to-morrow will be selected from the following:—F. Arnold, C. Agnew, J. Brimble, A. Bankhart, J. Cranwell. J. Davey, J. Don. W. Eville, L. Heighway, M. Jurid, S. Kirk, W. Laurie, N. Lendrum, G. McGehan, E. McFaddon, A. Simmonds, J. Scolt, Tt. P. Smith, 11. Strong, It. Tonkin, J. Wilson, B. Wilkes. ALTERATION IN GROUND Owing to there being no ground available at the Outer Domain the intermediate knockout final between Grammar A and Eden, originally set down to he played there, has been transferred to Three Kings, where it will commence at 3 p.m.
