TWO SLOOPS DUE
WELLINGTON AND LEITH RETURN FROM ISLANDS CRUISE After being away from Auckland for three and a-half months the sloops H.M.S. Leith and 11.M.5. Wellington are due to arrive in the stream late to-night on their return from their annual winter cruise to the South Sea Islands. They will berth at Calliope Wharf early to-morrow morning, according to the latest advice received at tho Devonport Naval Base. The new cruiser, H.M.S. Achilles, which was to return to the stream today, will now remain at Western Wharf until Monday, when she will go to the Naval Base. She will leave on her first southern cruise on November 7, returning to Auckland on December 3, after visiting Wellington, Lvttelton, Akaroa, Dunedin and New Plymouth. Another change in tho disposition of the warships will be made on Monday, when the Dunedin, which recently returned from its annual cruise to the South Pacific Islands, will go into Calliope Dock for tho continuation of her refit, which is expected to be finished at the end of this month. Tho two sloops left Auckland on Juno 17 and, after being at Suva together for a short time, they cruised independently to a number of islands. Bishop Kempthorne, of Polynesia, was a guest on each ship in turn in the course of a tour of his extensive diocese.
