FLORAL AFTERNOON

SCOUTS LADIES' AUXILIARY Tho Auckland Scouts Ladies' Auxiliary hold a successful floral afternoon yesterday, when more than 150 guests wero -present. The president, Mrs. A. E. Macartney, welcomed tho gathering, which was addressed by Mr. Alec Service, tho deputy-Metropolitan Commissioner, Mr. Service thanked the ladies for the assistance they had given tho scouts and explained the aims of the organisation. Tho conveners and their assistants at the tables, which were beautifully decorated in different colours, were Mrs. H. E. Burton, assisted by Mrs. P. Ellis, Mrs. L. Burrows, Mrs. I'. W. Halliday and Mrs. F. Myers; Mrs. W. Young, assisted by Mrs. 11. Hodder, Mrs: G. Jones, Mrs. F.' Eades, Mrs. (Warring and Miss Bell; Mrs. A. E. Macartney, assisted by Mrs. K. M. Cornwall, Mrs. L. Malfey. Mrs. Fred. Baker, Mrs. Barker, and Mrs. J. Proud; Mrs. G. Dowding, assisted by Airs. F. E. Bell, Mrs. C. J. Ralph, and Mrs. K. F. Ward; Mrs. E. Barnes, assisted by Mrs. E. Bennett. Mrs. A. M. Cliffe, Mrs. G. Simpson and Mrs. Ernest Asher.

The programmo included songs by Mrs. Leonard Knight, Mrs. Wallace Good and Miss Phyllis Cato, the accompanists being Miss G. Parry, Mrs. Partridge and Miss Bigelow; a duet by Mrs. C. D. Simpson and Mrs. Ernest Asher, accompanied by Madame Dunn; and a sketch by tho Misses Mary and Peggi Cruickshank.
