NEW ZEALAND AT GENEVA
Sir, —It is most gratifying and reassuring to read of the actions of Mr. 'Jordan at Geneva. Mr. Jordan is representing one of the most peace-loving countries in the world and a Labour Government. Such Governments as a rule are accused of pacifism, but our Labour Government has instructed its representative, Mr. Jordan, to take a stand for the right and common justice even if it should mean war. If we compare this policy of the Labour Government with the jingoistic speeches of politicians in the past, it carries far more weight. It would be better for British politicians to tell the world for what causes or principles we would fight than to let foreigners think we can be bullied and bluffed from defending the right. Then perhaps a foreign nation might think twice before committing an outrage similar to Germany's over-running of Belgium through ignorance of British sense of honour. G. F. Rawson.
