ANTI-AIRCRAFT TEST
SEARCHLIGHT PRACTICE MANOEUVRES AT WELLINGTON t ' [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday Exercises were carried out last night by an aeroplane from the Royal New Zealand Air Force bas* at Wigram, in conjunction with anti-aircraft section of the Royal New Zealand Artillery at Fort Dorset. The game in the sky wan entertaining to watchers, but had a serious purpose from the service point of view, being an instructional practice with some of the anti-aircraft equipment at night. The aeroplane represented an enemy ;j i•. bopiber over Wellington and the artillerymen had to find it with sound indicators and then to show it up with geairahKghts, so that it could have been attacked with anti-aircraft guns. Since it was the first test, the aeroplane kept on a fairly regular course within a given ami. The anti-aircraft equipment was installed at the fort a few months ago as! a part of the programme of improving the coastal defence. This is the first anti-aircraft exercise held in Wellington. A parade of anti-aircraft guns, searchlights and other equipment will be held through the streets of Wellington on Friday afternoon.
