ABYSSINIA'S STATUS
MATTER FOR HAGUE COURT SUB-COMMITTEE'S VIEW LONDON, Sept. 22 A message from Geneva states that the members of the sub-committee of the Credentials Committee to-day unanimously decided in favour of submitting to the Hague Court of International Justice the question of Abyssinia's eligibility to be represented at the Assembly.
The sub-committee will advise the Assembly whether Abyssinia may take part in meetings of the Assembly ill tho meanwhile.
According to the Geneva correspondent of the British . United Press, Mr. W. J . Jordan (New Zealand) repeatedly asked the committee who objected to Abyssinia's credentials, but received no answer.
The proposal to refer the question to the Hague Court will be the subject of a vote in the Assembly. It is recognised that the Court might decline to give a ruling or might contend that there is not sufficient information to recommend a commission to go to Western Abyssinia to investigate the conditions there. In any case no early reply can be expected. Italy is adhering to her decision not to send a delegation to Geneva until the Abyssinians are finally excluded. BADOGLIO'S CAMPAIGN REWARDED ! BY NATION ROME, Sept. 22 The Duke of Addis Ababa, Marshal Badoglio, has been granted full salary and allowances for life "to mark the nation's gratitude" for his conduct of the campaign in Abyssinia.
