OBITUARY

MRS. I. FERGUSON 71 YEARS IN WAIKATO [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday The death occurred, at Cambridge on Sunday of Mrs. Isabella Ferguson, wife of Mr. Robert Ferguson, of Richmond Street, aged 74. She was the fourth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lockley, of Birmingham, England. The family came to New Zealand and resided at Nelson, where the late Mrs, Ferguson was born in 1862. After three years she was brought to the Waikato. In 1880 she married Mr. Robert Ferguson and had resided in Cambridge ever since. She is survived by her husband, two sons and five daughters. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MRS. ELLEN ENSOR The death has occurred fit her residence in Victoria Road, Deponport, of Mrs. Ellen Ensor, one of the earliest and best known residents of Thames. Mrs. Ensor, who was in her 11 90 th year, came to New Zealand with her husband, the late Mr. Moses Ensor, in the ship Helenslee, reaching Auckland in January, 1870. They settled at Thames. The late Mr. Ensor was in the grocery trade at Thames for 50 years, retiring in 1920, when they came to Devonport to live. Mr. Ensor died six years ago. Mrs. Ensor is survived by four sons and five daughters. There are 34 grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren.

MR. THOMAS SMEATON [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Tuesday The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Smeatpn, aged 89 years, who was a resident of the Gletibrook district. between Pukekohe and Waiukq, for nearly 60 years. As a young man Mr. Smeaton came to New Zealand from Scotland. After spending two years at Auckland he took up land at Glenbrook, •Which he farmed 1 until about 10 years ago, when he retired and returned to Auckland. He is survived by one daughter. There are seveh grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

DR. SAMUEL ZOIIEL [by telegraph—OWN* correspondent] TE KUITI, Tuesday The death took place this morning of Dr. Samuel Zobsl, one of the oldest residents of Te Kuiti. Dr. Zobel was born in Rumania and was a graduate of London University. He held besides his medical degree that of bachelor of science. Ho came to Te Kuiti from the Dannevirke district about 1906. Since then he had made several trips to England and other countries and for a few years he practised in Auckland. His first wife died about two years ago and he had since remarried. Recently he and his wife visited Great Britain and the Continent.
