SETTLEMENT AT WHAKATANE

AMENDED PLAN APPROVED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Tuesday The Whnkatnne Borough Council last night accepted an amended plan of the Harbour Board reclamation area. This plan covers tho portion of the scheme already completed, but docs not show tho road across tho mud flat? to King Street.

Tho council had refused to accept the board's iirst plan. It was decided to appeal to a special Court to decide tho issue, but, as a result of a conference between Mr. J. W. Sumner, chairman of tho board, and Mr. W. Sullivan, Mayor of Whakatane, an amended plan was submitted and approved. The subdivision covers eight sections, which are expected to provide about 16 shop areas.
