CROQUET LAWNS OPENED

The official opening of the Kaikohe Croquet' Club's lawns took place at Kaikohe last week. There was an attendance of 50, including visitors from outside clubs, and a very pleasant afterBoon was spent/ The president, Mrs. J. Pausina, welcomed the players and Mrs. N. 6. McLean played the first ball. Various competitions were arranged, the winners being:—Hurry scurry, Mrs. A. G. • Wright and Mrs. Beasley (Rawene); clock croquet, Mrs. M. Guy; ladder croquet, Mrs. A. W. EdWards, sen.; long shot, Mrs. T. Jephcoate; angle shot, Mrs. W. ~P• Gate; two-ball break, Mrs. J. Pausina; onehall break, Mrs. F. King; golf croquet, Mrs. Chesterman (Rawene).
