ORPHANAGE DAY

WHANGAREI EFFORT "Orphanage Day'" was colebratcd at Whangarei by the Ladies' Gardening Club at the last meeting of the club, the object being to raise funds for the building of the North Auckland Protestant orphanage at Tikipunga, Whangarei. The president, Mrs. J. A Inkster, welcomed several members of the board of trustees of the orphanage, the chairman. Mr. F. Cutforth, outlining what had already been done in regard to the scheme, lhe Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, congratulated the Gardening Club on its enterprise in making such a splendid effort for such a worthy cause. He wished the club every success in its many activities. As a result of the afternoon's effort the sum of £lO 10s has been handed to the treasurer of the orphanage trustees.
