NORTH AUCKLAND NEWS
Mrs. J. N. Berghan, of Ahipara, and her daughter left last week on a short visit to Auckland.
Mrs. Kerr, of Auckland, is spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. A. Joy, of Kaikoho. Miss M. C. K. Sherlock and Miss Cadman, of Auckland, are visiting Miss Peggy Jacentho, Oruru. a A very enjoyable gathering was held at Waiharara on Saturday to welcome Mr. Haughton, recently appointed teacher to the school, and his bride. The evening, which was arranged by Mr. E. Wattridge, chairman of the school committee, was chiefly spent in dancing, the novelty events being Avon by Mrs. E. Shine and Mr. T. Dragecivich and Miss Srhoj and Mr. N. TJdahr. The competition was won by Mr. M. Yelas.
The annual meeting of the Oruru Ladies' Guild was held recently at Oroua, the Rev. A. Johnston presiding. The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs. J. Carton; vicepresidents, Mrs. J. Walton and Mrs. T. Taylor; secretary, Mrs. A. Garton; treasurer, Mrs. J. Forsyth; committee, Mrs. PI Taylor and Mrs. Walmsley; delegate, Mrs. Walton; auditor, Mr. E. Taylor; press correspondent, Miss F. Forsyth. Afternoon tea was served.
