AUSTRALIAN LADIES " TOUR OF AMERICA FOURTEEN MATCHES ARRANGED Fourteen Australian lady hockey players, who will undertake an extensive tour of America and Canada, are through passengers by the Niagara, which arrived in Auckland yesterday. The team is accompanied by a manager and two delegates, who will attend a conference to be held in Philadelpia, at which ways and means of improving ladies' hockey throughout the world will bo discussed.

This will be tho first Australian ladies' team to visit America, although sides have previously toured Great Britain and South Africa. Tho Australians will play 14 games on tour, and at tho international tourney to be hold at Philadelphia they will meet teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and South Africa. Members of the team, which is a strong one in spite of the fact that some of tho leading players were unable to make tho trip, are looking forward to the tour. Miss Taylor, of Victoria, is tho captain of tho side, and Miss Tazewell, of South Australia, is vice-captain Three members of tho team have their bachelor of arts and two their bachelor of science degrees, while one is a doctor. Tho Australians were welcomed on arrival by tho chairman of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association, Miss P. 11. Dawson, and they were entertained at luncheon. Tho visitors played a friendly game against an Auckland ladies' team at Remuera yesterday afternoon, winning by (i goals to 0. The Australians wore slow to adjust themselves, there being no score at half-time, but Auckland was overwhelmed in the second spell.

A GOAL IN DISPUTE PAEROA-HIKUTAIA MATCH t [by telegraph OWN correspondent] PAEROA, Monday The I'aeroa Hockey 1 Club is stated to be considering entering a protest as tho result of tho match between the True Bluo and Hikutaia teams at the Paeroa Domain on Saturday for the Hikutaia Cup. The game was fought at a hard pace. Shortly beforo half-time, it is alleged, the umpire, Mr. E. McSwceney, during a Hikutaia attack in Paeroa's circle, blew his whistle for an infringement by an attacking player. Play did not stop immediately, and tho ball was hit into Paeroa's goal, and the umpire blew again and awarded a score to Hikutaia. At half-time Jhis was the only scoro registered. Play was again very even in the second half, both teams scoring a goal. Tho scorer for Paeroa was Miss J. Clotworthy and for Hikutaia Miss O. Nowles and Mrs. Gillard (the disputed goal). Messrs. McSweeney and A. J. Gilbert were tho umpires.

WAIKATO BEATS PIAKO [from our OWN correspondent] MORRINSVILLE, Monday The Piako Hockey Association closed its playing seuson on Saturday with a representative match against Waikato. The latter won a keen game by 4 goals to 2. Goals were scored ior Waikato by J. Powdrill (2), J. Davies and it. Burns. N. Stevens and M. Stevpns scored a goal each Tor Piako. In the final of the Morrinsville ladies' championship, Morrinsville and Mangateparu drow, 1 goal each.
