?>< THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE BROKEN HILLS STRONG The week, opened quiot.lv on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, only a small amount of business being transacted. A feature was tlio continued strength of Broken Hill Proprietary, which added lid all round on the levels. Offers for the contributing issue rose by Is to .675, With sellers 3d higher at 57s 3d. Electrolytic Zincs also moved up. The preference shares fluctuated slightly in dealing. There was a further recovery in G. J. Coles, which added 6d in a transfer at 80s 9d. Morts Pock wero done Id dearer at 12s. Among New Zealand industrials, New Zealand Newspapers wero active about 40s, an nucha oged price. Woolworths • (N.Z.) were a shado cheaper at £5 Is 9d. Government loans met with a full inquiry and more sellers quoted. The ouly business was in 1949 4 per cent bonds at the current rate. Banks and insurances were inactive with an easier tendency.
