DIFFICULT CONDITIONS VARIOUS CLUB FIXTURES GOOD SCORING AT TITIRANGI Occasional showers and a cold wind made conditions for golf rather unpleasant on Saturday, when competitions wore continued by the various local clubs. The first qualifying round for the club championship was played at Titirangi, where the leading scores were quite good on the day. J. M. Coltman led the field with a 76, H. L. Robson being next with a 77, while A. M. Goulding just broke 80. J. H. Young played fine golf to be even fours for the first nine holes, but ho struck trouble coming liome to finish in 81. A. Shorter was the best of the intermediates, and G. P. Kobinson and J. C. Macky led the juniors.
At Maungakiekie, the qualifying scores of the seniors we're not good, ItM. Georgo leading with an 80, and D. G. Macfarlane being one stroke more. G. J. Bennett led the intermediates and C. Coleman the juniors. Owing to unfavourable conditions, North Shore again postponed its championship, but a Stableford bogey match was played. In this event W. Macindoe played a splendid round to score 40 points, while H. G. Goodwin was next with 36.
Tn a four-ball bogey match«at Middle- ; more, S. S. Wilson and 11. B. Wilson combined well to win with a card of 6 up, T. W. Johnson and H. Coverdale being the runners-up. The C grade tourney was also continued. The Mingay Cup competition at Pupuke resulted in a tie between W. D. Ross and C. H. Palmer. A medal round pln.ved in conjunction was won by T. McKelvie. after tieing with H. Randrup. The latter defeated A. F. Burnett in the semi-final for the 801 l Cup and C. H. Palmer beat G. A. Waterman in the second round for the Pupuke Cup. A bogey match at Akarana for the captain's prize Was won by W. J. Lowe, who was round in 70 net to finish 2 up. With 34 pointsi J. K. Cameron won the Stableford bogey event at Glendowie, J. 11. McCrystal being runner-up. The final of the South Auckland championship was played at Hamilton between T. Morpeth and J. Pountney, Morpeth winning on the last green. GOOD CARD AT TITIRANGI Playing in a four-ball pennant match on the Titirangi Golf Club's links, during the week-end, A. Harvey and J. H. Young, members of the club, returned a card of 8 up, Harvey's individual score being 08. The medal match resulted In a tie between 11. Randrup, 74, »—tS5, and T. McKelvic, 85, 20—05, McKelvie winning on the count-back. The next best cards were:—H. Webb, 75, 8 —07;, C H. Palmer, 83, 14—69. The Mingay Cup, the best three rounds in six, resulted in a tie between W. D. Ross, 04, 07, 07—198. and C. 11. Palmer, 03, 07, 08 —108.
