LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Mount Roskill. —A meeting of the Mount Roskill branch of the league was held recently. Mrs. Giles presiding. Mrs. 0. S. English, provincial president, pave an address. Members of the Sandringham league presented an amusing little sketch. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. Watson, and afternoon tea was served by the committee. Kpsom.—The Kpsoin branch hold its monthly meeting in the Baptist Hall, Inverness Avenue, on Thursday. Mrs. Wylie presided over 90 members and friends, and during the meeting six new members were received. Items were rendered by Miss Wells. The speaker, Mrs. Maungatae Babington, gave an address on "The Life and Customs of Ancient Maoris." Newton East. —At the annual meeting the following officers were elected: —-President, Mrs. Ohms;- vice-presi-dents, Mesdamcs Morrish, Miles, McPhee and Morgan; secretary, Mrs. Grey Porter; treasurer, Mrs. Miles: librarian, Mrs. Knox; assistant librarian, Mrs. D iggle. Members of the Epsoin branch, who were hostesses, arranged the programme and provided afternoon tea. The speaker was Mr. Binstcad. headmaster of the Owairaka School, who spoke on the importance of the proper training of the child of pre-school age; the five-year-olds and 011; new methods of teaching in the infant rdom. A song by Miss Dunnett was greatly enjoyed.
