UNION FEES UNPAID

REFUSAL BY WORKMEN THREAT OF DISMISSAL Advice that seven men employed on the Waitakere pipeline reconditioning work refused to pay union fees was received at a meeting of the City Council last night from the secretary of the Auckland and Suburban Local Bodies Labourers' and Belated Trades Industrial Union of Workers. The council's co-operation was sought. It was stated that the union had already agreed to forfeit arrears amounting to £1 10s, and to allow the men to rejoin as from April 1. It was decided to inform the men that they must pay the union foes as from April 1, or they would be dismissed.
